Several brands launched new devices in the Philippines this week, focusing on battery life and display improvements. Here’s a look at the latest smartphones, along with their key specs.

Redmi 17 and Redmi 17 5G: Budget Giants with Massive Power

Xiaomi’s Redmi sub-brand has launched the Redmi 17 and 17 5G, targeting users who want long battery life at an affordable price.

Both Redmi smartphones use a 6.9-inch HD+ LCD with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and up to 825 nits peak brightness. The standout feature is a 7,500mAh battery that supports 45W wired fast charging and 22.5W reverse charging, so the phone can also serve as a power bank. The 5G model runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 processor with UFS 2.2 storage. The 4G version uses a MediaTek Helio G91-Ultra. Both have a 50MP main camera, 8MP front camera, IP64 dust and splash resistance, dual stereo speakers, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

TCL NXTPAPER 60 Ultra and 70 Pro: Easy on the Eyes

TCL’s new NXTPAPER smartphones are designed for users who experience eye strain from extended reading or browsing. The screens use Nano-matrix Lithography Technology to scatter light and create a matte, glare-free surface similar to paper.

  • The NXTPAPER 60 Ultra features a 7.2-inch FHD+ 120Hz display with up to 850 nits of brightness. It uses a MediaTek Dimensity 7400 chipset, 12GB RAM, and up to 512GB storage. The camera system includes a 50MP main sensor with OIS, a 50MP 3x periscope telephoto lens, and a 32MP front camera. The 5,200mAh battery supports 33W charging.
  • The NXTPAPER 70 Pro has a 6.9-inch FHD+ NXTPAPER 4.0 display, a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor, 8GB RAM, and a 50MP main camera. It also uses a 5,200mAh battery with 33W fast charging.

OPPO Reno16 F 5G: Premium Features in a Sleek Package

OPPO’s Reno16 F 5G targets the upper mid-range segment, combining a high-quality display with a large battery.

The phone has a 6.57-inch FHD+ Crystal Guard AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 1,400 nits peak brightness. It runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 7300-Energy chip with 8GB LPDDR4X RAM. The rear camera setup includes a 50MP main camera with OIS, a 50MP telephoto lens with 3.5x optical zoom, and an 8MP ultra-wide lens. The front camera is 50MP. Both front and rear cameras support 4K video recording at 30fps. The Reno16 F 5G has a 7,000mAh battery in an 8.44mm-thick body, with 80W SUPERVOOC fast charging.
