Barkwatch Smartwatch protects kids from online risks

Bark Technologies has announced the new Bark Watch, built on the Samsung Galaxy Watch8 (40mm LTE) platform in partnership with Samsung. The device combines Samsung hardware with Bark’s AI-based digital safety tools. It’s a durable smartwatch designed for kids, aimed at families looking for a practical first connected device for children who are ready for more independence.

The new Bark Watch is a complete redesign of the original, designed to meet the needs of families who want to protect their children from online risks while giving them a device that can handle daily wear and tear. Many kids’ watches are built for younger users, but older kids often want something that looks and feels more grown-up without losing key safety features. The Bark Watch uses an Armor Aluminum case and lets parents keep their kids safe without the distractions that come with a smartphone.

The redesigned Bark Watch adds new parental control features and gives kids more freedom to explore safely.

Brian Bason, founder and CEO of Bark Technologies, stated that parents require a dependable way to keep their kids safe when providing them with a smartwatch, and that by building directly on the Samsung Galaxy Watch8, Bark is delivering award-winning safety features on a best-in-class device that gives parents confidence in their family’s security.

Meaningful Upgrades for Active Families
With the move to the Samsung Galaxy smartwatch, the new Bark Watch brings performance updates focused on the needs of active families:

  • Communication: Supports LTE calling, group texting, speech-to-text for composing messages, and text-to-speech playback for kids who need reading support.
  • Hardware and Durability: Uses the Samsung Galaxy Watch8 with a round design, Armor Aluminum case, and IP68 rating.[2]
  • Health Tracking: Includes fitness activity, step count, and other health features in one device.
  • Safety Features: Includes Emergency SOS and GPS location tracking.[3]
  • Contact Controls: Parents can customize text and calling permissions by time of day, adjusting as their child grows.
  • Personalization: Supports Bluetooth headphones and offers eight interchangeable watch band styles for purchase.

Distraction-free Boundaries
The Bark Watch leaves out social media apps, internet browsers, mobile games, unrestricted app downloads, and a built-in camera. Bark’s AI platform monitors incoming and outgoing text media and alerts parents to issues like cyberbullying, digital threats, or explicit content.
