Xiaomi has launched the REDMI Note 17 Series, adding four new mobile phone models to its lineup, including the first Pro Max variant. The new phones come with bigger batteries, faster charging, and a sturdier build. Xiaomi has updated the design and is aiming for better reliability in the mid-range segment.
Over the past 12 years, the REDMI Note Series has shipped more than 500 million units across multiple generations (of phones, not people, mind you, but that could be true as well). The series is known for bringing higher-end features to more affordable devices.
The REDMI Note 17 Series comes with a six-year durability commitment. The Pro models meet REDMI Titan Quality standards and have received TÜV SÜD 5-star certification for battery life, drop resistance, and water resistance.
If you take care of this Redmi, like putting a proper drop/shock proof casing, protective tempered glass, and don’t drop it often, then it’ll last for years. Also, don’t download scummy third-party apps.
And take our word for it. This can really happen. We used a Samsung Note 8 from 2017 to 2024 by doing all of these things. We only retired it because the volume and power buttons were gone. And it’s still working.
The REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G uses a 9,210mAh silicon-carbon battery, which can last up to three days on a single charge. With Boost Mode, a 20-minute charge can provide a full day’s use. The phone supports 100W fast charging and 27W reverse charging. Xiaomi says its battery management system is designed to help the battery last up to six years.
For durability, this Redmi mobile phone uses REDMI Titan Structure and is rated IP66 and IP68 for dust and water resistance. It has been tested for 72 hours of immersion at 2 meters. SGS certified the device for 3-meter drop resistance; it uses Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and reinforced internal components.
The series gets a new design to improve grip. The Pro Max model features a photochromic Cloud Blush finish. The REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G has a 6.83-inch 1.5K display with up to 3,500 nits peak brightness, Xiaomi HyperAI, and a camera system that supports portrait capture, dual-video, and 4K recording. It also includes an AI Creativity Assistant.
