It’s Friday, and what better way to spend your weekends than getting cozy with a new game? We got so many great adventure games and indie titles this week! Here are the titles that came out this week!
Mixtape
Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2
One of the most anticipated “vibey” releases of the year. It’s an adventure game where you play through a teenager’s memories, all synchronized to a massive licensed soundtrack of 80s and 90s hits. This is going to be a hit for the Gen X crowd and everyone else who loved the grungy and new wave songs.
Motorslice
Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S
A high-speed, action-adventure title that blends vehicular combat with character-driven platforming. It’s been getting strong early reviews for its fluid movement and “neon-dystopian” aesthetic. It’s like Nier: Automata, but more cartoony, blending the gameplay of Mirror’s Edge and other action-platformer games.
Wax Heads
Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch
A stylized narrative adventure set in a failing record shop. It features a unique comic-book art style and revolves around managing the shop, solving customer puzzles, and uncovering the mysteries of a local music scene. And again, we love the vibe of this particular bunch of indie games that highlight great music.
Froggy Hates Snow
Platforms: PC, PS5, Switch 2
A whimsical but surprisingly deep adventure/platformer that has been a hit in the indie scene for its creative physics-based mechanics. Frogs really don’t like snow but we’re digging this game because it’s a rogue-lite game that combines developing tactics and strategies to collect resources and fight other creates in the snow.
Coming Up Next Week
If you’re looking ahead, next week is even bigger:
Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes
This is a new strategy title for PC based on the highly popular sci-fi series.
Directive 8020
We tackled this one before, and we’re excited about this release. It’s the next major entry in The Dark Pictures Anthology from Supermassive Games, and it’s taking the horror franchise into deep space.
Subnautica 2
Perhaps the most anticipated survival sequel of the year, launching in Early Access on PC and Xbox.
If you’re on the new Switch 2, this is a big month—several titles like Mixtape and Froggy Hates Snow are launching with dedicated hardware enhancements for the platform.
That’s it for this gaming week! Let us know which game you’re playing this weekend!
