Ericsson and Microsoft are bringing together advanced 5G right into Windows 11. This means businesses everywhere can give their teams secure, policy-based laptop connections, making it much easier for IT to manage, protect, and scale mobile devices.
The solution combines Microsoft Intune for device management with Ericsson Enterprise 5G Connect, an AI-powered platform that monitors network quality and automatically adjusts connections for top performance and security.
With AI-based 5G management built into Windows 11, IT teams can automate device connections, switch between network providers easily, and apply company policies without extra hassle.
Using Microsoft Intune and Ericsson Enterprise 5G Connect, IT can automatically set up secure connections and company policies on every 5G device. This reduces manual setup and keeps the user experience consistent and compliant, regardless of where employees are working.
These automation features solve the usual headaches of using cellular-connected laptops. They reduce manual work, maintain a smooth user experience across different locations and networks, and help IT teams save time. Businesses get a secure, reliable way to use the latest mobility tools, all built on the most secure and cloud-ready version of Windows.
This builds on years of Microsoft and Ericsson working together to bring managed 5G to businesses. After several successful pilots, they’re rolling out enterprise 5G bundles that include Surface Copilot+ PCs, Microsoft 365, Intune, and Ericsson Enterprise 5G Connect, in partnership with network providers worldwide.
At MWC Barcelona 2026, the world’s biggest mobile connectivity event, Microsoft and Ericsson will show off what the solution can do now and give a sneak peek at new features coming soon.
Experts will demo new features like remote network policy settings for 5G, automatic eSIM switching, and a local AI agent on Surface 5G laptops that makes smart, real-time decisions. The goal: maintain smooth, reliable connectivity for critical business tasks.
Erik Ekudden, CTO, Ericsson, says: “AI-powered 5G laptops are redefining how and where work gets done. Together with Microsoft and leading CSP partners, we’re enabling organizations to seamlessly automate the deployment and operations of secure, always-connected devices, regardless of location – creating a smarter, more responsive workplace for the AI era. This joint solution has the potential to transform enterprise IT and employee ways of working around the world.”
Ian LeGrow, Corporate Vice President, Core OS, Microsoft, says: “Windows 11 is the optimal enterprise platform for deploying and managing 5G-connected PCs at scale. With the new 5G management capabilities of Windows 11, now being piloted first with Surface Copilot+ PCs and Ericsson Enterprise 5G Connect, Enterprise IT teams can use Microsoft Intune to seamlessly provision, manage, and secure both devices and 5G connectivity. Together, Windows, Intune, Surface, and Ericsson enable organizations to confidently deploy AI-ready PCs and keep employees securely connected and productive wherever work happens.”

The joint solution is already available for businesses in the US with T-Mobile, Sweden with Telenor, Singapore with Singtel, and Japan with SoftBank. More countries are coming in 2026, including Spain, Germany, and Finland.
