More tech news happened recently. Verbatim is bringing its storage and accessories to more local stores. Meanwhile, the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI) is kicking off its search for the country’s next wave of AI talent. Read on to find out more.
Verbatim Expands Footprint with WSI Partnership
If you’re after solid tech accessories, there’s good news. Verbatim just teamed up with Wordtext Systems, Inc. (WSI) to get their full lineup into more local stores and online shops. They made it official at a launch event in Mandaluyong last September. Now, WSI is the go-to distributor for Verbatim gear nationwide.
The big deal here is Verbatim’s new charging tech. Their Gallium Nitride (GaN) wall chargers are now available, and they’re faster, more efficient, and smaller than the old ones. Plus, they don’t get as hot even if you’re charging multiple devices.

Verbatim’s also bringing in their Charge ‘N’ Go power banks. These are magnetic, wireless, and come with built-in cables and digital displays. They support fast charging up to 22.5W and Power Delivery at 20W. Whether you’re a pro or a casual gamer, you’ll find these in stores and online, so you won’t have to worry about running out of juice.
For those who don’t know, Verbatim used to be one of the best floppy disk brands from the 80s through the 90s. Sink or swim, or shift into new businesses. It always makes sense for any business.
Tech news worth reading: IOAI Philippines 2027 Opens Free AI Training
While Verbatim is all about hardware, IOAI Philippines is betting on people. They’ve just opened up their 2027 national selection, and they’re giving free AI training to K-12 students all over the country.

The best part? Anyone can join. You don’t need to know how to code, and you don’t even need a computer. The first round runs from November 16 to 22, and you can take the test on your phone. Applications are open until November 11, so there’s still time to sign up.
If you make it to the top 300, you’ll go through more qualifiers, all leading up to a two-day national final at Ateneo BUILD in February 2027. The competition is tough, but the rewards are huge.
The top four will get to represent the Philippines at IOAI 2027 in Singapore next July. If you’re a non-graduating student and make the cut, you’ll also get a shot at the Asia-Pacific Olympiad in Russia this April. Last year, all four delegates brought home medals, so the bar is set high.
