Creality has opened pre-orders for the K3 3D printer, the newest model in its K Series, starting at $849 in the US. The K3 uses a four-nozzle KliTek system. With this four-nozzle system, it can handle common problems in multi-color 3D printing: slow color changes and wasted filament. Instead of constantly swapping and purging filament like single-nozzle printers, the K3 keeps four filaments ready to go and can switch nozzles in about 5 seconds. Creality claims this setup can cut print times by up to 80%. It can also reduce material waste by up to 85% compared to typical single-nozzle multi-color printers.

Four-nozzle system cuts 3D printer time and waste

Single-nozzle multi-color printers often need hundreds or thousands of filament swaps, which slows down prints. It also uses more material. The K3 3D printer builds on the K2 Series and uses its own KliTek nozzle-changing system to get around this problem.

With four separate filament paths, the K3 3D printer can change materials in under 15 seconds and switch colors up to five times faster than standard setups. This also cuts down on the constant purging you get with single-nozzle printers.

More than just multi-color: new materials and options

The K3 also supports multi-material and mixed-nozzle printing if you add the right accessories.

You can mix 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, and 0.8 mm nozzles in one print, using smaller nozzles for detail and larger ones for faster infill. This can make printing up to 30% more efficient.

For flexible filaments, the S-Drive Dual-Drive system works with TPU 85A to 95A if you have the right accessories. With TPU 95A, it can reach flow rates up to 15 mm³/s. This is about seven times faster than most consumer 3D printers in Creality’s tests.

The K3 3D printer can blend CMYK colors using translucent filaments and controlled layer stacking, giving you more color options. The USB-C quick-swap nozzle assemblies make maintenance easier. It can cut replacement costs by about a third compared to swapping out the whole toolhead.

The K3 works with standard materials like PLA, PETG, PET, and PCTG. With extra accessories, you can also print with engineering-grade, flexible, and soluble filaments.

Fast 3D printer with accuracy and reliability

The K3 has a 260 x 260 x 260 mm build area, prints at up to 500 mm/s, and accelerates at 20,000 mm/s². The 300°C hot end and 100°C heated bed let you use a wide range of materials.

To keep prints accurate during fast nozzle changes, the K3 uses 37 sensors, with 12 just for checking nozzle alignment and locking. In Creality’s lab tests, the system stayed within 25 microns of repeatability over 800,000 nozzle changes.

The K3’s frame is 30% more rigid than before, and it runs 7 dB quieter, according to Creality’s own tests.
