REDMAGIC ships its first-ever liquid-cooled gaming tablet

Redmagic Astra 2 is its first-ever liquid-cooled gaming tablet

REDCMAGIC has announced the Astra 2, its first-ever (and probably the first in the world) liquid-cooled gaming tablet. The company is known for pushing Android hardware, and the Astra 2 is built for demanding mobile gamers. Instead of a minor update, the Astra 2 focuses on solving thermal throttling and frame drops.

Here’s a look at what sets the Astra 2 apart from other high-end Android tablets this year.

Liquid-cooled gaming tablet first

Thermal management is a common problem for mobile gaming. Even the fastest processors slow down when heat builds up. REDMAGIC addresses this with the Astra 2, which is the first tablet to feature visible liquid cooling. The Astra 2 also uses Liquid Metal 3.0 and a large vapor chamber to help maintain performance during long gaming sessions. The “Icy Veins. Infinite Frames.” tagline refers to this thermal system.

Processing power and speed for a liquid-cooled gaming tablet

Inside, the Astra 2 uses a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor alongside REDMAGIC’s RedCore R4 gaming chip. This dual-chip setup lets the Snapdragon handle general processing, while the RedCore R4 manages gaming-specific tasks such as audio, haptics, and touch response. The Astra 2 is built to run demanding games like Genshin Impact and Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile at high settings.

The Astra 2 uses a 9.06-inch 2.4K OLED display with a 185Hz refresh rate, which is higher than most mobile screens.

  • Peak Brightness: At up to 1,600 nits, you can comfortably game outdoors or in brightly lit rooms.
  • Fluidity: The 185Hz panel ensures that competitive gamers have the lowest possible visual latency and the smoothest animations imaginable.
  • Power Fluidity: The 185Hz panel is designed to reduce visual latency and provide smooth animations for gaming. The tablet supports 75W fast charging, ensuring you spend less time tethered to a wall outlet and more time dominating the leaderboards.

The “Escape the Maze” Launch Event

For the July 17 launch, REDMAGIC is running a promotional campaign on its global site. Fans can try the “Escape the Maze” Challenge, a browser-based minigame with the brand’s anime mascot, Mora. By guiding Mora through the maze and dodging obstacles, players can lock in a chance to win a free Astra 2, an exclusive $100 discount pack, and other REDMAGIC merchandise like power banks and plushies.

With its liquid cooling system, strong processing hardware, and high refresh rate display, the REDMAGIC Astra 2 is a notable entry in the Android tablet market. REDMAGIC is now expanding its focus beyond smartphones to tablets.
