If you’ve ever had your phone overheat and your game slow down, you know how frustrating thermal throttling can be. nubia’s new Neo 5 GT Special Edition gaming phone aims to solve that, offering a phone designed for smooth, consistent gaming performance that’s accessible to more players.

nubia brings features from high-end gaming PCs and AI servers to the Neo 5 GT Special Edition, raising the bar for what a gaming phone can do.

The AquaCore Cooling Revolution

The standout feature here is the AquaCore Cooling System. nubia says it’s the first phone in its class to use both liquid and air cooling together. Since keeping things cool is key to steady performance, nubia tackled heat in two ways:

  • Active Liquid Cooling: Borrowing from AI server tech, the phone uses a specialized coolant and a piezoelectric micropump to dissipate heat from the main components. There’s even a window on the back so you can watch the coolant in action.
  • Active Air Cooling: Like a gaming PC, the phone has a built-in fan and a specialized airflow design to expel heat collected by the liquid cooling system.

nubia also uses vapor chamber and graphite layers, giving the phone a large area for heat to escape—33,652 mm² in total.

Elite Performance and Power for a true gaming phone

The Neo 5 GT Special Edition has a flat back for comfortable gaming, and it’s packed with hardware built for competitive play:

  • Processor: It runs on the 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 7400, with nubia’s NeoTurbo Engine for extra optimization.
  • Memory & Storage: You get up to 24GB of RAM (12GB physical plus 12GB virtual) and a choice of 256GB or 512GB of storage.
  • Battery Life: The 6,210mAh battery is built for long gaming sessions. It supports 80W fast charging (45W PD in the EU) and Bypass Charging, which powers the phone directly to keep things cool while you play. If you’re almost out of battery, a 5% Extreme Mode can give you up to 30 more minutes of game time.

Console-Level Control and AI Immersion

The 6.8-inch 1.5K AMOLED display offers a 144Hz refresh rate and up to 4,500-nit brightness, so games look sharp and smooth. Stereo speakers with DTS:X Ultra and an X-axis linear motor deliver immersive sound and haptic feedback.

For controls, the phone uses 550Hz Neo Triggers 5.0 and a 3049Hz Instant Touch Rate, keeping touch latency under 5.5ms.

The AI Copilot Demi 2.0 suite includes a Gaming Coach, a Gaming Chatbot, and Demi Auto-Chat, so you can get tips and manage messages without leaving your game.

The Neo 5 GT Special Edition comes in Surge Black and Glacial Silver and will launch in Southeast Asia this July. Nubia promises five years of software updates, so gamers can expect long-term support.
