XPENG, a global electric vehicle (EVs) maker, launched in the Philippines on September 25, 2026. This marks its first direct subsidiary in Southeast Asia. The launch at SM Mall of Asia Arena introduced six local EV variants, namely the X9 MPV and L03 SUV coupe. Local pricing starts at PhP 1,548,000.
Thousands attended the launch, including media, tech creators, and industry partners. Actress and TV host Anne Curtis was named the brand’s ambassador. XPENG also showed its X2 flying car and IRON humanoid robot, along with the production vehicles.
Here’s a closer look at the two EVs leading XPENG’s local lineup, based on official specifications.
XPENG X9: The “Starship” Ultra Smart MPV
The X9 is a seven-seater MPV built on XPENG’s SEPA2.0 architecture. Its exterior design draws on starship shapes. It achieves a 0.227Cd drag coefficient, which is low for its class.
XPENG says the X9 EVs use an 800V high-voltage silicon carbide (SiC) platform, letting them charge from 10% to 80% in 12 minutes on a compatible DC fast charger. Additionally, the MPV includes active rear-wheel steering and dual-chamber air suspension, plus an AI chassis that adjusts damping for ride comfort.
The X9’s cabin includes a 17.3-inch central control screen and a 21.4-inch rear entertainment display. Features also include reclining sofas with 14-way adjustment, a built-in refrigerator with a 0-50°C range, and a wrap-around central AC system for draft-free climate control. The third row folds flat into the trunk, expanding cargo capacity to 2,554 liters.
