New smartphones, AI PC laptops, Industrial SSDs and Instax updates

Here are the latest mobile device and tech news this week.

Smartphones: High-End Photography & Big Batteries

  • realme 16 Series 5G: We featured the realme 16 Series 5G, and today this flagship-tier lineup is available.
  • realme 16 Pro+ 5G: Features a 200MP Samsung HP5 main camera and a 50MP 3.5x telephoto lens. It’s powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 and a massive 7,000mAh battery. Check back for prices.
  • realme 16 Pro 5G: Uses the Dimensity 7300 Max and features a 200MP main sensor. Currently priced at ₱31,999 (12 GB + 512 GB).
  • POCO M8s 5G:  This mid-range powerhouse smartphone launched this week. It focused on longevity and AI features like “Circle to Search.” It features a huge 6.9-inch 1.5K display and a 7,000mAh battery. Starts at ₱12,599 (8 GB + 128 GB), exclusively on Shopee until April 30.
  • OPPO Find X9 Ultra: This ultra-flagship was announced last week and will be available on May 15.  Mobile phone enthusiasts say it has the “most extreme camera system” in a phone, featuring a 200MP Sony LYT-901 main sensor and a 35mm focal length.

Laptops: The “AI PC” Wave

We’ll be getting more AI PCs for the foreseeable future.

  • ASUS ProArt 2026 Lineup: ASUS brought back its dedicated creative series with three heavy hitters:
    • ProArt P16: The flagship creative rig with an AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 and RTX 5080.  It’s priced at a whopping ₱289,995.
    • ProArt GoPro Edition (PX13): A specialized 13-inch convertible designed for seamless connectivity with GoPro cameras, featuring an AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395.  Slightly priced lower than the ProArt P16 but still a jaw-dropping ₱164,995.
  • Intel Core Ultra Series 3 Laptops:The first wave of laptops powered by Intel’s latest Core Ultra Series 3 processors (Intel’s newest AI-focused chips) officially became available in local retail stores today.

Other Notable Releases

  • Fujifilm Instax Mini 13: Fujifilm refreshed its popular instant camera line with a new version that includes a built-in self-timer and updated “Cinema” colorways for the Mini Evo.
  • Kingston Industrial SSD: For the more enterprise-minded, Kingston released new mission-critical “Design-In” memory and industrial-grade SSD solutions for local infrastructure projects.
