Smart rings have mostly focused on tracking sleep and heart rate. The KiWear Smart Ring, now on Kickstarter, takes a different approach. This 5-gram wearable aims to let you control a range of digital devices with a tap of your finger.

How Air Gestures Work

KiWear uses motion-sensing technology to turn hand movements into commands. Instead of picking up your phone or remote, you can control devices with finger gestures.

You can swipe to skip a song, pinch to take a photo, draw a circle to adjust volume, or cross your fingers to reject a call. For more precise control, the ring includes Air Mouse mode to move an on-screen cursor, useful for smart TVs or presentations.

The KiWear smart ring uses AI algorithms to distinguish intentional commands from everyday movements like typing or holding a cup.

A Smart Ring & Universal Controller

KiWear smart ring works over Bluetooth and can pair with up to eight devices. It supports two active connections at once, so you can switch between your phone and laptop with a gesture.

KiWear works with iPhones, Android phones, Macs, PCs, smart TVs, projectors, and Bluetooth speakers. It can also control AR smart glasses like the INMO Air 3 and Rokid Glasses, and can connect to select Tesla vehicles for certain functions.

Health Tracking and Hardware

Gesture control is the main feature, but KiWear also tracks health data. The ceramic shell is scratch-resistant and water-resistant to 5ATM. The ring monitors heart rate, blood oxygen, sleep, and daily activity. Data is collected in a companion app, without using vibrating alerts.

Battery life is a concern for wearables with motion sensing. KiWear lasts up to two days on a charge and can recharge fully in under an hour.

Kickstarter Details and Availability

KiWear smart ring is now on Kickstarter, with early backers able to get the ring for $249. The company expects to start mass production and shipping in late November 2026.  If KiWear meets its goals, it could make controlling devices more convenient.
