Qualcomm announced two new mobile systems-on-a-chip (SoCs): the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6. Both mobile chips are built for what Qualcomm calls the agentic AI age and will power upcoming premium smartphones from major brands.

With a multi-flagship lineup, Qualcomm is aiming to bring more advanced AI features to a wider range of high-end devices. The company says this approach will help meet the changing needs of both consumers and OEMs.

Both the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 mobile chips are built on a 2-nanometer (2nm) process node. Under the hood, the new platforms run on a custom-built Qualcomm Oryon CPU, a rearchitected Qualcomm Adreno GPU, and the advanced Qualcomm Hexagon NPU. This architectural foundation ensures both chips deliver substantial gains across key mobile domains: AI processing, gaming, camera performance, and connectivity.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 is Qualcomm’s most powerful mobile chip so far. It’s built to support advanced AI features and strong performance for high-end Android phones. Qualcomm says the platform is designed for everyday AI agents that can adapt to users and deliver faster, more personalized experiences.

For gaming, the new Adreno Neural Fusion technology uses AI to improve graphics and extend battery life. The result is more immersive gameplay and better visuals for both casual and competitive players.

On the camera side, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 adds AI-powered features, Advanced Professional Video support, and Intelligent Pixel Control. These updates aim to improve scene recognition, image quality, and produce more natural photos and videos.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 uses the same 2nm architecture, Oryon CPU, Adreno GPU, and Hexagon NPU as the Extreme version. It brings these features to a broader range of premium phones, giving OEMs more options.

The company says these mobile chips and platforms deliver agentic AI experiences that are immediate, personal, and adaptive. By offering two innovative solutions, Qualcomm aims to give OEMs more choice as they help shape the next generation of intelligent, personalized mobile experiences.

Phones with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 and 8 Elite Gen 6 are expected to launch soon. Brands including HONOR, iQOO, Motorola, OnePlus, OPPO, REDMI, RedMagic, vivo, and Xiaomi will use the new chips in their upcoming flagship models.
