If you’re an iPhone user and want to level up your mobile photography skills, check out the RetroVa Vintage Imaging Kit.
PGYTECH’s RetroVa Vintage Imaging Kit on Kickstarter, aiming to push iPhone photography past typical smartphone limits. The kit is the company’s latest move to bring professional-grade imaging to mobile devices.
RetroVa is built on the idea that mobile photography should offer the same control and creative process as traditional cameras. The kit turns iPhone 16 and 17 Pro and Pro Max models into a full imaging system, adding physical controls, improved optics, and a workflow-focused design.
RetroVa’s design centers on camera-style handling. It features a tactile grip, a real shutter button, metal controls, and a leather-textured finish. Physical buttons and dials let users adjust ISO, white balance, and exposure, while the shutter release supports half-press to focus.
A key feature is the 2.35x optical telephoto extender. On the iPhone 17 Pro, it delivers a 235mm equivalent focal length, and on the iPhone 16 Pro, it delivers a 282mm equivalent focal length. This optical zoom provides sharper detail and better compression than digital zoom.
RetroVa works with PGYTECH’s imaging app, which features a vintage-style interface and real-time film effects. Built-in microSD recording supports long-form 4K video and high-bitrate shooting, giving users a more professional workflow.

RetroVa’s modular components support street, travel, video, and tripod shooting. The system is designed to adapt and expand as photographers’ needs change.
Wei, Product Development Director at PGYTECH, explained the motivation behind RetroVa: “Smartphones have become the most widely used cameras in the world, but the shooting experience itself hasn’t evolved at the same pace”. The RetroVa represents a fundamental rethinking of mobile photography from the creator’s perspective.
RetroVa signals PGYTECH’s deeper push into smartphone photography. The kit joins the company’s lineup alongside the ProShot Phone Video Cage Kit and MagCam 2 Phone Grip.
Early-bird pricing on Kickstarter starts at $72 for the RetroVa Grip Kit, which includes the grip and case. The All-in-One Ultimate Set, with the telephoto lens, is $184. The campaign runs until February 28, 2026, and the first shipments are set for next month.
