Acer has introduced the Chromebook Spin 311 and Chromebook 311, its first education-focused Chromebooks built on the new MediaTek Kompanio 540 processor. Both models are designed for students, with the performance and features needed for modern classrooms. Their durable builds are made to withstand daily use and help schools stretch their budgets further.
“Acer Chromebooks are acclaimed as a foundational technology to prepare K-12 students for a lifetime of learning,” said James Lin, General Manager, Notebooks, Acer Inc. “Their durability, flexibility, and ease-of-use help students collaborate and embrace new concepts with enthusiasm. Plus, they help teachers more effectively implement personalized learning strategies for their students, while IT departments can effectively manage Chromebooks to ensure sustainable operation and uninterrupted student learning.”
Performance and Battery Life in Clamshell, Convertible Form Factors
Both Chromebooks use the MediaTek Kompanio 540 processor for smooth performance, whether students are running STEM apps or Minecraft Education Edition. Battery life reaches up to 15 hours, and fast charging keeps downtime to a minimum. The fanless, power-efficient design means these devices run quietly, making them a good fit for classrooms and take-home use.
The new Acer Chromebook Spin 311 (R725T) has a convertible design with 360-degree hinges that let it be used in four modes, including tablet mode for reading, sketching, and taking notes. The Acer Chromebook 311 (C725) has a traditional clamshell design that is compact and lightweight, making it easy for young learners to use and transport. Both models feature an 11.6-inch LED-backlit HD (1366×768) display with IPS technology, while the Chromebook Spin 311 also offers an Antimicrobial Corning® Gorilla® Glass[2] display option to meet the needs of students and school districts. Both Chromebooks can also be purchased with an optional TÜV Rheinland-certified display that emits low levels of blue light.
Both Chromebooks include a Full HD webcam with dual microphones for class projects, plus an optional world-facing camera for science and art assignments. A dedicated Quick Insert key gives students fast access to tools and apps. Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.3 options ensure strong, reliable connections for online learning and accessories.
Lower Total Cost of Ownership to Maximize School Budgets
Both Chromebooks meet MIL-STD 810H standards and are built to handle drops up to 122 cm, thanks to impact-resistant exteriors, shock-absorbent bumpers, and a honeycomb internal structure. Reinforced brackets protect the screen and ports from rough handling. The keyboard features a drainage system to guard against spills up to 330 ml, and rubber feet make the device easy for students to carry.
Modular design makes repairs simple. The keyboard can be swapped out by removing two screws, and the keys are anchored to prevent tampering but are easy for IT staff to fix. The USB Type-C port is also modular for quick replacement if needed.
The new Acer Chromebooks contribute to Acer’s sustainability goals; they use PCR plastics, eco-friendly packaging, and energy-efficient designs to reduce overall environmental impact. In addition, they are EPEAT-registered, Energy Star- and TCO-certified.[6]
