First Alert Smoke and CO2 Alarm

Resideo Technologies, a leading global provider of home comfort, safety, and security solutions, has announced a new lineup of First Alert smoke, carbon monoxide, and combo alarms. The new smoke and C02 alarm models focus on easier installation, straightforward battery replacement, and the introduction of SoftCue Replacement Reminders. These reminders aim to cut down on late-night chirps by giving homeowners an early heads-up when maintenance is needed.

According to Ryan Park, Senior Product Director of Safety and Security at Resideo, the new First Alert smoke and CO2 alarm devices are designed to simplify routine maintenance. Park notes that simplifying maintenance can help keep alarms powered and active, reducing the risk that homeowners will ignore or disable them.

The updated First Alert alarms meet the latest Underwriter Laboratories standards and include features aimed at making maintenance and operation simpler, such as:

  • SoftCue Replacement Reminders:These alerts give homeowners a heads-up three to five days before the alarm needs attention, using a soft sound and a clear LED indicator. This early notice helps avoid surprise low-battery warnings or end-of-life alerts.
  • Easy-read indicators: Dedicated LEDs show power status, low battery, replacement needs, and whether smoke or CO has been detected.
  • Simple installation: A standard ceiling bracket makes installation and future replacements easier. An optional Easy-Fit Mounting Plate can help avoid repainting ceiling marks.
  • Large, easy-access test/silence button: The new button is centrally located and much larger than before, making it easier to test or silence the alarm.
  • Side-load battery drawer. Both battery-powered and hardwired models now let homeowners replace AA batteries from the side of the alarm.

New Smoke and C02 Alarm Advanced and Connected Detection
The new smoke, CO, and combo alarms use updated detection technology and work with other First Alert devices for a more connected home safety setup. Each alarm includes Precision Detection, which aims to provide earlier fire warnings in modern homes and reduce nuisance alarms from cooking or steam.

Hardwired models are backward compatible with select older First Alert installations, so installation and replacement do not require extra adapters. The lineup includes hardwired, battery-powered, and 10-year sealed battery models.
