DJI, a global leader in civilian drones and creative camera technology, has launched the Osmo Pocket 4P, the latest in its smart gimbal camera line that started with the original Osmo in 2015. The Osmo Pocket 4P introduces a dual-lens setup, including a new 1-inch CMOS sensor with 17 stops of dynamic range and a 60mm lens with an f/1.8 aperture for portraits. It also adds a 10-bit D-Log 2 color profile, supporting over a billion colors for improved light and shadow detail. The camera comes in black or white.
Two Lenses for Cinematic Versatility Near and Far
The Osmo Pocket 4P smart gimbal uses a dual-lens system for flexibility, covering wide-angle shots and portraits. The main lens is a 1-inch CMOS sensor (20mm equivalent, f/2.0) with LOFIC technology, offering 17 stops of dynamic range and up to 4K/240 fps video. These specs are usually found in higher-end cinema cameras and help with high-contrast scenes. The 60mm lens (f/1.8) is designed for portraits, supports 3x optical zoom and up to 12x zoom, and can blur backgrounds for more focus on the subject.
DJI smart gimbal elevates video record and capture
The Osmo Pocket 4P can record slow motion at up to 4K/240 fps (4P can capture up to 8x ultra-HD slow motion footage), useful for capturing fast-moving subjects in detail. Slow Shutter Video mode lets users create motion blur or track movement over time. The 10-bit D-Log 2 color profile and 17 stops of dynamic range help preserve highlight and shadow detail, and the 10-bit color depth supports smoother color transitions for editing.
Intelligent Shooting, Unshakable Stability
The Osmo Pocket 4P uses a 3-axis mechanical gimbal for stable footage in a compact 230g body. The updated ActiveTrack 8.0 keeps subjects centered in the frame, even at 12x zoom, and can automatically prioritize or center multiple subjects.
Capture at Will, Share on the Go
The Osmo Pocket 4P introduces several user-friendly features that enhance shooting and sharing, such as instant recording by rotating the touchscreen to power on and start filming, gesture controls like an open palm for ActiveTrack or a “V” sign to begin recording, and 4K Live Photo that automatically captures 1.5-second clips for every photo. It also offers 37MP high-resolution photos that can be reframed in post-production, supports USB 3.1 for wired transfer speeds up to 800 MB/s for efficient workflow, and has a battery that charges from 0 to 80% in just 18 minutes, providing up to 210 minutes of runtime on a full charge.
Compatible with Osmo Ecosystem
The Osmo Pocket 4P works with a range of Osmo accessories, including a fill light, Black Mist and ND filters, FrameTap, battery handle, wide-angle lens, mini tripod, and OsmoAudio microphones. Accessories are sold separately or in bundles.
