We’re fans of AR glasses. We use one regularly for work, but mostly just for watching videos and playing Steam games. So when we heard about a new XREAL glass, our curiosity was piqued.
XREAL’s next-generation AURA spatial computing glasses, developed in collaboration with Google and Qualcomm, will arrive later this year. Previously called Project Aura, these lightweight XR glasses run on Android XR and the new Snapdragon Reality Elite platform. It aims to bring immersive, wearable tech to your daily routine, whether you’re working or just having fun.
XREAL officials say AURA is raising the bar for XR glasses, thanks to its cinematic visuals, advanced AI, and strong hardware. With Snapdragon Reality Elite and Android XR inside, XREAL wants AURA to shape the future of smart glasses for both developers and everyday users.
Powered by Android XR and Snapdragon Reality Elite
AURA combines Google’s Android XR with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Reality Elite platform, promising fast performance, smooth multitasking, smart AI, and battery-friendly power for wearables.

Qualcomm, for its part, noted growing global demand for advanced XR technologies that offer immersive experiences and high performance. They highlighted Snapdragon Reality Elite’s role in meeting these needs and reinforcing Qualcomm’s leadership in XR chipsets.
Google officials described XREAL AURA as a turning point, bringing innovative XR experiences to daily life through its collaboration with leading teams.
Next-Generation Android XR Experiences
AURA packs high-end spatial computing into a lightweight, portable pair of glasses. What stands out in this XREAL glass iteration?
Well, XREAL AURA features a 70-degree field of view with a virtually borderless canvas, lightweight optical see-through frames under 95g for comfortable mixed reality use, and advanced world-facing sensors that enable hand tracking, 6DoF tracking, and multimodal AI. The glasses are built on a dual-chip, split-compute architecture with a dedicated spatial compute unit powered by Snapdragon Reality Elite for high performance and efficiency, enhanced further by the XREAL X1S Spatial Coprocessor for low-latency display and seamless integration with Android XR and Gemini.

XREAL is sending out hundreds of AURA developer kits worldwide through the Android XR Catalyst Developer Program. The goal is to help developers build apps for everything from entertainment and gaming to productivity and healthcare.
Right out of the box, AURA will run millions of Android apps from the Play Store. There are already over 100 XR-specific apps in the works, and the ecosystem is growing as more partners join.
